All this talk of Cadillac and Chevrolet getting top honors from every American magazine and news outlet is great. Good for them. They probably deserve it.
Have any outlets outside of the US given any similar accolades to these cars? The skeptic in me wonders if this is a patriotic move to put American cars on top again (again?).
I'm not implying that everything said and made in Europe (or wherever) is better, but some sort of diversity would add credibility to these "best car" awards. I'm also not making the claim that anyone is wrong. I simply haven't come across much from outside the US on these awarded cars. Send links my way!

Maybe, but I'd assume in the rest of the world there is some major anti-american car people/very patriotic people for their own country. Its impossible to truly get an impartial opinion.

Oh, I completely agree. But someone has to have said something by now, whether it be mediocre, great, or terrible.

I'd like to see Top Gear or EVO review the new CTS and ATS, maybe European Car can test them against the new Bimmers and Mercs.

While I don't read as many car magazines as I used to, I've seen reviews and tests of the new Corvette, the Camaro, and some of the newer Cadillacs on both Car & Driver and Autoesporte, and they seemed to agree that the new GMs are fantastic. Quatro Rodas, which used to be the most important car mag in Brazil is hardly reliable these days, they ever criticize anything, at all, so if they did any reviews, they probably gave the cars a flat 95 like they give every single car out there.
On a side note, Chevy's Brazilian lineup has been very well received by the critic as well. Cars like the Cobalt sedan and the Onix and Prisma compacts were launched as entirely new products after over a decade of rebadged mid 90's Opels to great reviews and went on to sell very well. The Camaro is, hands down, the best sports cars available on this market stripped of anything that even remotely resembles fun, and its success has prompted even Ford to consider launching the Mustang in the Brazilian market, not to mention that both versions of the Cruze, the Onix and Prisma and the Cobalt have multiple "X of the year" awards.

I recently re-watched the Top Gear test of the original CTS, so I completely agree that it deserves to be revisited. Same with the Vette. Maybe they just need more time.

That's good to hear. I hadn't thought of Brazil, but you have great points. Similarly, I think C&D, along with most of the big American mags, fill their pages with 80% flattery and very little critique or criticism.

Make sure you search for Opel while you are looking! Most of them are built off the same platforms as their american cousins. Opel does have a few awards under their belt.

Totally agree. Couldn't have said it better myself.

That's what's so great about the Brazilian C&D, most of the team is composed of the same people who used to write for the soon-to-be-departed Jalopnik Brasil, and they are as fiercely independent and irreverent on the magazine as they were on the blog. They don't measure words when they like or dislike something. Back in 2009, when they had just started out in Brazil, they tore apart a car from one of their comparisons because the suspected the manufacturer was cheating and they were right.
Their biggest amount of praise doesn't go to GM however, it belongs to Ford because of their comparatively advanced cars, but Fords are expensive and Chevys will do the job about as well for a much lower premium.

Top Gear mag got their hands on the Stingray and loved it, basically saying there's nothing that can touch it for less than 100 grand. I've heard rumors the hosts loved it too and it will be on the show next season

Chevrolet as a brand will soon be discontinued in Europe, so there's that. I believe the ATS was reviewed favourably, but not as euforic as in the US. The second gen CTS, I have no idea. It sold so poorly I don't remember ever seeing one.
